The e-learning package To-Go speaks English and Danish: public transport – offentlig transport. Making multimedia-based specialist information available to all target groups at any time, wherever they are, is important now like never before.
High-tech company Frequentis has developed a dispatcher terminal for the state-owned railway company in Denmark. The dispatchers are to be trained on this new terminal. An e-learning package with videos, screencasts and tutorials would be the ideal way to prepare for face-to-face training. Multilingual capability is a must.
The challenge with regard to trainees is that the output format of the e-learning package must be transportable and interactive, because the dispatchers themselves decide when to look at which modules. Each session is therefore self-contained.
The challenge with regard to the technology is that the screencasts are created at the terminal. The accompanying text is automatically exported to a translation tool via an interface. The end product is presented in the company’s corporate design.
An experienced trainer decides what the script of the e-learning package is to focus on. We pick Adobe Captivate as the production tool. We implement explanatory elements in the form of storytelling with illustrations.
The text accompanying the videos is created in English, and voice-overs are produced by the integrated text-to-speech solution.
Native-speaker translators translate the text into Danish. A Danish voice-over artist records the words locally, and e-learning can then go ahead in two languages.
